December brings another foundation to light, which I may never have otherwise tried if not for the lovely associate at Nigel's Beauty Emporium. On a day trip to LA, I decided to return the Stila foundation that I was having a bad reaction to. I asked the girl for something full coverage, for oily skin. I told her how sensitive my skin is, and asked for her recommendation.
I have heard of Becca Cosmetics, but with so many newer brands out there it is hard to try them all! Plus I am not always keen to order brands that I've never tried before, especially when it comes to foundation. This was her first suggestion when I asked her for something for oily skin, and she was able to color match it in an instant (that's a first!) She directed me to their Ever Matte Shine Proof Foundation. This. Stuff. Is. Amazing.
It has a liquid to powder finish, so it applies like a liquid/cream but dries to powder. This means that you don't have to set with powder, and use less product. You also don't have to worry about finding the right shade of foundation AND powder. I've applied it with a sponge, brushes, and even my fingers and it lays down very evenly. It has great sheer to full coverage, and has a natural finish. I just use a good oil free primer or setting spray (hello Skindinavia) and I have excellent oil control throughout the day! It contains vitamin E, and other ingredients to help sooth the skin. I get compliments on it all the time from customers.
If I want to nitpick, I wish it dried just slightly slower. It dries fairly quickly, so the work time isn't very long. This means you can't blend it with other cream products very well, either. Sometimes when I go to put concealer on over it, or even just build up more product in extra spots, it is already drying so it clumbs up slightly or my spong/brush/finger will lift product off.
I snapped a few shots after work the other day, to show the staying power. This is after an 8+ hour day of work, after I had changed into my comfy couch dwelling attire. All I had on all day was the foundation, blush, and mascara and it looked almost the same at the end of the day as it did when it began. I hope to add a before and after shot soon, but I thought these represented it pretty well! I have a feeling I will be using this foundation for some time.
